Dr. Samadi: Obamacare Will Affect Quality of Patient Care

By    |   Friday, 25 October 2013 04:43 PM EDT

Dr. David Samadi, chairman of Urology and chief of Robotic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, said his original, positive diagnosis of the Affordable Care Act is wrong.

"When everyone was worried about Obamacare six months ago, a year ago, I surprised you," Samadi told "The Steve Malzberg Show," on Newsmax TV.

Story continues below video.

"I'm not a big fan of it, but I said just let it roll and you're going to see that, short term, we're going to see a lot of mess but, long term, good doctors will come to the surface and the patients are going to follow them."

But he feels differently now that the healthcare law is rolling out.

"This is nothing but taking care of quantity of volume of people and I'm afraid the quality is going to be affected," he said.

"And you know me, it's one of the reasons why I always individualize and take care of the patients hands-on. This is going the wrong direction and it's a big problem."
