Armstrong Williams: Scene in Ferguson 'Beyond Comprehension'

By    |   Friday, 22 August 2014 06:01 PM EDT

The scenes of rioting and police intervention in Ferguson, Mo., were hard to recognize as taking place in the United States, according to Armstrong Williams, a Newsmax contributor and host of "The Right Side with Armstrong Williams."

"It is beyond my comprehension. When I watch it, I'm confused though as to whether I'm looking at America," Williams said Friday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"It's confusing even to me, my sensibilities."

Williams also criticized civil-rights interlopers who have flocked to the St. Louis suburb to weigh in on the shooting of a black teenager by a white police officer — the tragedy that touched off more than a week of violence.

"Charlatans like [the Rev.] Al Sharpton who goes in, who fuels the flame feeds the flame and feeds the anger of these people, makes this situation more volatile," he said.
