The Republican establishment is not getting anything done because of the emotional disconnect it has with its conservative base, former Rep. Tom Tancredo, told Newsmax TV.
"I believe they were never, ever truly dedicated to any part of the Trump agenda and really aren't dedicated to much, if any, of a conservative agenda of any kind," Tancredo, a Colorado Republican and 2008 GOP presidential candidate, told host Bill Tucker on Monday's "America Talks Live."
"Because they're not there. They're not there politically. They're not there philosophically. They're part of the establishment that is . . . the greatest obstacle to getting anything done that most conservatives want done."

Tancredo also warned GOP lawmakers are not always on the level about what legislation they can pass.
"It can be done," Tancredo told Tucker. "Also, there are parliamentary tricks that can be played. Everybody knows this in Washington.
"So, when people like [House Speaker Paul] Ryan or the Senate Majority Leader [Mitch McConnell, say, 'I don't know, I can't get the votes, I just don't have them,' well I'm guaranteeing you, if they wanted them, they could get them. They don't because they're not there emotionally."
Tancredo said he is frustrated as to how to go about changing the party's gridlock.
"I just don't know what else to do," he said. "You feel so frustrated because where do you go from here? What do you do? John Q. Citizen, a concerned, conservative Republican out there, has been voting for Republican all his or her life.
"We've done everything that they've asked us, so truly, where do you go? I mean another party? That really isn't going to work, I don't think, and so when you say, 'well, we'll abandon you, we'll pull you out,' well, we haven't gained anything there either. So, I am so frustrated."
