Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., told Newsmax on Friday that Iran made an elaborate attempt to hack into his Google account.
On "Ed Henry: The Big Take," Fine said someone claiming to work for Newsmax tried to set up an interview with him, and it seemed legitimate.
"And we tried to do the interview, and it didn't work," Fine said. "And so we just sort of said, 'Well, something must have gone wrong technically.'"
Days later, however, U.S. Capitol Police contacted Fine and said the Iranians tried to gain access to his Google account.
"We've actually met with the FBI about it, and it appears that the IRGC [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps] tried to get access to my Google account," Fine said. "Perhaps they could see where I was going when I used Google Maps."
"I think we've seen them target Kash Patel," the FBI director, Fine added. "They've targeted me.
"I'm sure they're targeting other people. I think it just says that Americans really need to be on high alert right now."
Fine said Capitol Police alerted him that other lawmakers were also targeted by Iran.
"The tell was they wanted us to use Google Meet and you all tend to use Zoom," Fine said. "And that was the tell that something was wrong."
"They attempted to gain access to my Google account through that Google Meet link, so then they would have access to all of my personal Google information," Fine said. "We don't know it worked, but that's what they were trying to do, and it is being investigated now."
"But believe me, I did not have Iran trying to hack my phone on my 2026 bingo card," Fine continued.
