Paul Vallely: Obama Didn't Make Any New Decisions

By    |   Thursday, 19 June 2014 06:26 PM EDT

Retired U.S. Army Gen. Paul Vallely joined Ed Berliner on "MidPoint" on Newmax TV on Thursday to discuss the announcement by President Barack Obama that he plans to send 300 military advisers to aid the Iraqi government in its fight against the insurgents there.

"Actually there weren’t any decisions made," Vallely said. "We had 200 on the ground over there already, and the numbers, if he's going to plus up another 300, they're going in for a number of different reasons."

"One, to plus up the intelligence operations on the ground," he explained. "Two to . . . augment any coordinating forces that are needed for air and ground operations and communications."

"Plus the marines were brought in you know over the last 72 hours to augment the embassy staff there for security purposes, so there's a mix there of the number of people that have been sent in and were there," he added.
