Sheriff Paul Babeu: Obama's Order Means Amnesty for 20 Million

Monday, 24 Nov 2014 05:38 PM

President Barack Obama's latest executive action is a "de facto amnesty" that will benefit all illegal immigrants in the United States — four times as many as he says it will, says Paul Babeu, sheriff of Pinal County, Arizona.

"The president talked about 5 million, and in reality, it works out, we're looking at the full 20 million illegals who are in our country," Babeu said Monday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"There's a memo we just released this morning from Secretary [of Homeland Security] Jeh Johnson, who put out a six-page directive . . . talking about prosecutorial discretion.

"Literally, 10 months is all they're talking about. Anybody who's arrived before these 10 months, they are to receive this prosecutorial discretion. Meaning, there is no immigration law.

"So, while the president was speaking, telling the American people one thing . . . in reality, the secretary of Homeland Security did something even more far-reaching . . . an entire set of laws for immigration law that is no longer to be enforced."

Babeu fears many illegal immigrants will rely on fraudulent documents to beat the system.

"We already know the number-one industry crime in America is identification theft, right? It's happened to most people . . . and that's what's going to happen," he said.

"They're going to produce fraudulent lease agreements, fraudulent utility bills, anything that's needed to satisfy that requirement.

"But guess what? It's not even going to need to get there, because the president has just said, there is no action. If you're here, you're here."
