Donald Trump was correct to say that nuclear weapons would not be taken off the table against America's allies because "the fact is that we have nuclear weapons," retired Army Col. Patrick Murray told Newsmax TV on Thursday.
"That's part of our defense capability that we have against what used to be the Soviet Union and Russia who still have that," Murray told "The Hard Line" host Ed Berliner. "It's not a matter of saying no we're never going to use this or anything else.
"It's just a matter of saying we need to exercise peace through strength."

He added that the town hall interview with MSNBC's Chris Matthews on Wednesday in which he discussed the weapons essentially amounted to "a 'got you' interview.
"I mean, come on," Murray said. "From the abortion question to the nuclear weapons question to the Geneva conventions and everything else."
