Fox News Analyst Hahn: Christie Has No Wiggle Room on Bridge-gate

By    |   Thursday, 16 January 2014 05:22 PM EST

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has pushed too hard in denying responsibility for the bridge-gate scandal swirling around his administration, Democratic political commentator Christopher Hahn believes.

"If it's true that he had nothing to do with it, this is going to blow over in a couple of weeks, but he gave himself no wiggle room. None at all," Hahn, a Fox News analyst, told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"So if it turns out that he did have knowledge of this before he was on the Stairmaster in the gym at 8:50 in the morning that day, he's going to have a serious problem and it's Nixonian in its level."

Story continues below video.

Christie's top aides are accused of staging a four-day lane closure by the George Washington Bridge that clogged commuter traffic and emergency vehicles. He says he was betrayed and lied to by staffers.

Hahn disagrees with those who believe Christie is a RINO — Republican In Name Only.

"No, he's not a phony Republican. He's a guy who actually wants to govern," he said.
