Dick Morris to Newsmax TV: Firing Wray Good Politically for Trump

FBI director Christopher Wray

The conspiracy concerning the FBI's targeting of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and the growing news that the Obama administration — potentially all the way up to President Barack Obama himself  —  will become "huge fodder in the presidential election, political strategist Dick Morris told Newsmax TV Monday.

And the best way for President Donald Trump to kick it off will be to fire FBI Director Christopher Wray,  Morris told Newsmax TV's Sean Spicer on "Spicer & Co."

"I think getting rid of Wray has got to be the opening blast," said Morris, as it would be a way to dramatize the revelations" that have come out that the Russia investigation was a "total fake, a hoax, probably orchestrated by Obama himself."

The goal of the Flynn prosecution, said Morris, was so that the intelligence community could "lie through its teeth to the American people."

Trump last week said the "jury's still out" on Wray after the Justice Department dropped charges against Flynn.

"It would have been a lot easier if he came out rather than skirting and going through, you know, 19 different ways except through the FBI, so let's see," said Trump. "A lot of things are going to be told over the next couple of weeks and let’s see what happens. You’ll see a lot of things coming out. It’s disappointing.”
