Rep. Mike Pompeo: An Obama Able to Ban Deportations Would Be a 'King'

President Barack Obama will in effect be a "king" if he convinces the Supreme Court to approve programs that could shield 4 million people from deportation and make them eligible to work, Rep. Mike Pompeo tells Newsmax TV.

Some 26 states spearheaded by Texas — which would be most affected by the commander-in-chief’s immigration plan — have filed suit to block it. But the Obama administration argues that Texas lacks the legal standing to do so.

Pompeo said Monday on "The Malzberg Show" that if Obama gets his way, "then we have a president who is king, who can change the law and make changes without any recourse.

"He can run America with 40 members of the United States Senate in any way that he wants. That's not what the framers [of the Constitution] intended."

The high court, which heard 90 minutes of oral arguments on the case Monday, appeared closely divided, raising the possibility of a 4-4 deadlock that would block the program. But according to Reuters, Chief Justice John Roberts could be the most likely member of the conservative bloc to join the high court's liberals in voting to reinstate the program.
