Michael Reagan Bares His Heart-to-Heart Chat With Trump

The son of President Ronald Reagan had a heartfelt phone conversation with Donald Trump and told the president-elect he has joined an exclusive fraternity of public servants.

"I called to really simply say, 'listen, this week is going to be the most important week of your life,'" Michael Reagan said Wednesday on Newsmax TV's "The Steve Malzberg Show." "'Your whole life is going to change.'"

"[I told him], 'you're going to become a member of a fraternity that there's only been 44 before you. I was a member of the 40th first family. Your family is going to be the 45th first family. I just want to let you know our prayers are with you, and we support you, anything we can do to help you, let us know.'

"'Again, welcome to basically the family of presidents and former presidents, and good luck and have a wonderful inauguration, and hopefully we see each other soon.'"

Michael Reagan, a veteran political commentator, said he had a "wonderful conversation" with Trump, who admired his father's years in the White House and even borrowed his 1980 campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again."

"[We] look forward to seeing each other one day at the White House," said Reagan, author of "Lessons My Father Taught Me: The Strength, Integrity, and Faith of Ronald Reagan," written with Jim Denney and published by Humanix.

Reagan's relationship with Trump has been bumpy at times.

Last October, he lashed out at the billionaire real estate tycoon, who at a campaign stop in Manheim, Pa., appeared to accuse Hillary Clinton of cheating on her husband, former President Bill Clinton.
