Ex-INS Officer Michael Cutler: 'Compassion Is Not About Suicide'

By    |   Thursday, 14 April 2016 07:15 PM EDT

The day before the third anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings, Michael Cutler told Newsmax TV Thursday that the Tsarnaev brothers were another example of when "we've seen where the system has failed to vet people."

"The Tsarnaev brothers … got political asylum and they were naturalized," the former Immigration and Naturalization Service officer told "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth.

The surviving Tsarnaev, Dzhokhar, now 22, is on death row in Colorado. His brother, Tamerlan, 26, was killed in a gun battle with police shortly after the attacks that killed three people and injured more than 260 others.

"Why in the world would we open our doors to people who may well want to kill us when the obvious solution is to keep them in their home area, provide for them there?" Cutler asked.

"It's far more cost-effective.

"Compassion is not about suicide. Suicide is not an act of compassion," he added. "We may well be committing suicide with [President Barack] Obama's policies."
