The Republican Party as it once was may not exist anymore, former Bush official Michael Brown told Newsmax TV.
Brown spoke with JD Hayworth and said the GOP is no longer sticking to its convictions.
"Republicans, you and I believe, should be the party or coalition of smaller government, limited government, lower taxes, tax reform, less intrusion into private lives, less intrusion into business," said Brown, who served as the first undersecretary of Homeland Security under former President George W. Bush.

"I believe sincerely that coalition has fallen apart. They vote 50-plus times to repeal Obamacare when they know there's no chance in hell that's going to happen, and then when it really could be done, that coalition falls apart. So I'm not really convinced that the Republican Party, as you and I know it, still exists."
Brown also addressed reports that former Attorney General Loretta Lynch may have used an alias to conduct official government business, which seemed to go against her sworn testimony to a House committee during which she said she used her official email while she led the Department of Justice.
Brown said he doubts Republican lawmakers will pursue any sort of perjury charges against Lynch.
"I don't think that coalition exists strongly enough to now stand on principles and do what it's supposed to do," Brown said. "I'm a lifelong Republican, but I've lost all confidence in these people to do what we elected them to do."
