Renowned civil-rights lawyer Alan Dershowitz says metal detectors should be in operation at the Temple Mount, the major Jerusalem holy site and recent scene of a deadly Palestinian attack.
"When a Jew goes to pray, anywhere in the world today, they virtually have to walk through metal detectors and cameras, and what's the big deal?" Dershowitz told Miranda Khan and Nancy Brinker on Newsmax TV's "America Talks Live."

Israel installed metal detectors at the Temple Mount after two Israeli Border Police officers were killed there by Arab-Israeli gunmen July 14. That had Palestinians charging Israel was muscling in and quashing religious rights. After violent street clashes broke out, the Jewish State removed the detectors, while promising to install high-tech security cameras.
But Dershowitz believes the detectors should stay.
"Of course metal detectors are appropriate, and it's crass hypocrisy to somehow claim this is a religious right not to have metal detectors when virtually every Jew who prays today has to have a metal detector," he said.
"And many Christians around the world need to go to their churches through metal detectors because of Palestinian terrorism incited by the Palestinian imams and leaders of the Palestinian authority,, as well as ISIS and al-Qaida and other Muslim extremist groups.
"So let's put the hypocrisy to bed, and let's resolve this issue pragmatically."
