RNC's Kukowski: Questions Linger on IRS Competency

By    |   Friday, 20 June 2014 04:00 PM EDT

Republican National Committee Press Secretary Kirsten Kukowski and Democratic strategist Eric Sapp joined "MidPoint" host Ed Berliner on Friday on Newsmax TV for a panel discussion on the selection of new House Majority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy, the latest on Iraq, and the loss of former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner's email.

Kukowski, said questions remain about the IRS's  competency in light of the email development.

"We're supposed to be having some transparency, now we're told we don't actually have some of the emails to give us some insight," she said. "We're never going to know now, for whatever reason they didn't think it was important to keep those emails."

Concerning McCarthy, Kukowski said it is too soon to tell how he'll do as the new majority leader, but noted that former Majority Leader Eric Cantor, who lost his primary bid for re-election, will continue to be important as a party leader.
