Alison Lundergan-Grimes' refusal to say whether she voted for President Barack Obama made her look awkward and "weasely" as she battles to unseat Mitch McConnell in Kentucky's U.S. Senate race, Wall Street Journal columnist James Taranto says.
"She's in an awkward position here. Obviously, Obama is very unpopular in her state," Taranto said Monday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV.

Grimes made news last week when, during an interview with the Louisville Courier-Journal editorial board, she repeatedly dodged answering whether she had voted for Obama.
"What she neglected to mention was that she was an Obama delegate in 2012 when every Kentucky delegate except one, a congressman from Kentucky, voted for Obama," said Taranto, who is also editor of the Journal's online editorial page, OpinionJournal.com.
"The idea that a Democratic office holder did not cast a vote for her candidate, for her party's candidate for president, in two elections is rather hard to believe.
"Of course, she didn't deny voting for Obama, she just said, I believe in the sanctity of the ballot box. She just ended up looking very weasely, and I don't think that serves her well with anyone."
Grimes and other Democratic candidates are distancing themselves from the commander-in-chief, whose popularity has plummeted.
