Marco Rubio has to aggressively take on Donald Trump in Thursday's Republican presidential debate in Houston to prove that he's tough on national security, Ken Blackwell, a senior fellow at the Family Research Council and former Ohio secretary of state, told
Newsmax TV.
"Marco has something that he has to establish," Blackwell told "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth. "And that is that he's strong enough to take on Putin, that he's strong enough to take on the ayatollahs of Iran — and he can't get there if he's not strong enough to take on Trump.
"He's going to make that point tonight and the same goes for Ted Cruz," he added. "Cruz has been much more aggressive towards Trump than Rubio, and they both have been aggressive towards each other."
