Marco Rubio is the icing on the cake of a charged-up Republican Party ready to win the White House in 2016, says Ken Blackwell, a senior fellow at the Family Research Council and former Ohio secretary of state.
"We, as a party, have been blessed with a number of great candidates and Marco is one of them," Blackwell, who was also mayor of Cincinnati, said Wednesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV.

Rubio has "decided to make this a generational battle and those of us who are a little longer in the tooth, like myself, will probably say this is probably a different class.
"This is a world view that believes in an unharnessed government versus those of us who believe in putting the harness on government and optimizing individual liberties."
Blackwell said the entrance of the Florida senator into the 2016 presidential race, following that of Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, makes for a trio of political excellence.
"The reality is that [Rubio is] now one of the early candidates in a field of great candidates," he said.
"And so the primary process is going to produce a very robust candidacy and a leader that will be able to take on the Democratic opponent."
Hillary Clinton, the presumed Democratic choice, announced her candidacy Sunday.
