Pennsylvania Rep. Fred Keller denounced President Joe Biden’s recent executive orders restricting energy production and transportation, suggesting Friday that one of the few beneficiaries is Russia.
Appearing on Newsmax TV, Keller said his 12th Congressional District in north central Pennsylvania certainly isn’t benefitting.
''It certainly isn’t the people losing their jobs, Americans losing their jobs,'' Keller said on ''American Agenda.'' ''It’s not the local government in the areas where these jobs happen. It’s not the state governments where these jobs are happening.
''Imagine if we need a lot of energy, and we have to do like happened a couple of years ago, and have people in New England bring in natural gas from Russia. I guess Russia would benefit, which is really a sad statement to make.''
Keller referred to Biden’s executive orders that essentially halted construction of the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico and another which prohibited all new leases for petroleum exploration on federally owned land.
The 55-year-old Republican specifically noted the unilateral decisions would impact his district.
''Not only Pennsylvania but our entire nation, but I’ll speak about PA-12, the district I represent, up to 10% of the nation’s gas comes out of our district on any given day,'' Keller said. ''If this is a signal of what’s going to happen, it’s unfortunate not just for PA-12, but for all of our nation.''
