Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton told Newsmax TV on Tuesday its Freedom of Information Act lawsuit seeking records on intelligence leaks of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and Russia seeks to expose "the corruption of the prior administration."

"We sued in federal court — and it's now going to be up to the Trump administration hopefully to disclose these records," Fitton told "The Steve Malzberg Show."

"Hopefully, they've now realized they have an opportunity to set the record straight here and do what President [Donald] Trump wants to be done: Let the truth come out and show just what was going on here.

"We believe that this is an opportunity for the American people to get the real answers."

"You can't rely on Congress to get to the truth — and the administration is an administration that only partly controls the executive branch," Fitton said.

"Hopefully, this FOIA lawsuit will focus the administration on something they need to control, which is the transparency issue and exposing the corruption of the prior administration."
