Donald Trump won't be able to broaden his base of support in the final weeks before Nov. 8 – but he can drill down on Hillary Clinton and try to dampen her Election Day turnout, pollster John Zogby tells Newsmax TV.
In an interview Tuesday with "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth, the senior partner at John Zogby Strategies and author of "We Are Many, We Are One" said the GOP nominee's path to the White House is "unlikely and pretty narrow," and that there's "really not anything proactive that he can do."
"No," Zogby bluntly replied to a question of whether Trump can broaden his base of support in some key battleground states.
"To be honest, not to broaden his base of support, but [there's a chance] to raise serious questions about Hillary Clinton's support and try to dampen her turnout," he added. "I think there has been just too much damage that Trump has self-inflicted in terms of key groups where he needed to cut in. Non-whites for example, millennials, women."

In the wake of damaging reports that have hurt his standing with women voters, Zogby said there's still "one hope that he has."
"We talk a lot about a gender gap but there's really a marriage gap," he said. "A big difference between married women and single women."
"If in some way he can raise enough red flags among single women to not turn out to vote for Hillary, but then pick up support among married white women, then it's a possibility," he added.
"He seems to be doing that in Ohio and probably is on his way to doing that in North Carolina as well. But there's really very little that he can do to shore up any support beyond whites."
