Hillary Clinton may now be the Democratic candidate for the White House, but the former secretary of state "was part of what I think are the most disastrous four years of the modern American presidency," former Republican chief of staff John Sununu told Newsmax TV on Wednesday.

The former New Hampshire governor, 77, who served President George H.W. Bush told "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth in an interview:

"She was secretary of state when President [Barack] Obama and Hillary Clinton put into play a foreign policy which undercut the credibility of the United States everywhere — which destabilized the Middle East, which failed to take advantage of anything constructive in the Arab Spring and left us with chaos in the Middle East.

"It created a climate over there which is so sour now towards America that it's going to take an aggressive effort to try and rebuild our credibility and get our allies to help us deal with the national security threat, the real national security threat that ISIS poses."
