Sen. John McCain slammed Hillary Clinton's recent comments playing down the scandal at the Department of Veterans' Affairs, telling
Newsmax TV Thursday that "the thing that's really alarming about this is that Secretary Clinton wants to be the commander-in-chief."
"We know that the commander-in-chief has first responsibility as to the men and women who serve in the military and those who have served," the Arizona Republican and 2008 presidential candidate told "The Hard Line" host Ed Berliner.

Clinton, the former secretary of state and Democratic front-runner,
told Rachel Maddow on MSNBC last Friday that she believes the VA scandal has "not been as bad as it has been made out to be."
McCain, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, accused Clinton of politicizing efforts to help the nation's veterans.
"The Veterans' Affairs Committee in the Senate and in the House, they're working a bipartisan basis," he told Berliner. "So, who steps in to make it a partisan issue and disparage the terrible things that have happened to our veterans?"
