Joe Concha Urges MSNBC: Tell Truth About Rachel Maddow

By    |   Monday, 08 December 2014 04:50 PM EST

MSNBC is airing an "intellectually dishonest" promo that identifies its liberal talk-show star Rachel Maddow as a news anchor, media watchdog Joe Concha says.

"MSNBC recently put out a promo stating that Rachel Maddow is, in fact, a news anchor … This promo was written undoubtedly with Rachel's approval," Conch, a columnist at Mediaite, said Monday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"Now there is a big problem with that … She is actually saying through this promo that that is her job and that's simply, obviously, not the case. The promo needs to be changed because it's intellectually dishonest."

The MSNBC promo in question crows that Maddow is a "news anchor with a big personality. She’s smart, funny and passionate."

But Concha argued that Maddow is an "opinion host."

He added that he is surprised MSNBC President Phil Griffin hasn't been axed considering the left-leaning cable station's low ratings.

"I'm shocked … Phil Griffin still has his job. It's like football. They're like the Jets right now or the Jaguars, even. One win, two wins," Concha said.

"You got to fire the coach if you're not racking up wins and they're getting killed. I mean they're in fourth place sometimes behind HLN, and I'm not even sure that's a news network anymore. So, big problems over at 30 Rock, no question."
