Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J., told Newsmax on Wednesday that the White House letter to news outlets calling for more scrutiny of House Republicans "is typical" of the Biden administration.
"I mean, they told Facebook who couldn't … express their viewpoint on it," he said on "Newsline."
Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said Tuesday he's directing a House committee to open an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden over his family's business dealings.
Ian Sams, spokesperson for the White House impeachment war room, wrote a letter to be sent to news organizations such as The New York Times, Fox News, the Associated Press, CBS News and others, CNN first reported.
"It's time for the media to ramp up its scrutiny of House Republicans for opening an impeachment inquiry based on lies," Sams wrote.
In the letter, Sams also said an impeachment inquiry with no supporting evidence should "set off alarm bells for news organizations."
Said Van Drew: "We call it the Facebook files now and you can track where the White House is in constant communication with Facebook, telling them the conservatives, religious people, folks that have certain values, people [who] look at COVID a different way, and a host of others, anybody that criticizes the president too much, that they should be cut off. They shouldn't be allowed to speak, and there were emails that show that internally. So this doesn't surprise me.
"What they're doing here, they are afraid of the truth. And the truth is that Joe Biden has done lots of bad things and he sold our country out."
