Jeb Bush Slams Trump: 'I Don't Want My Party Hijacked'

Donald Trump is "not a conservative" — and Jeb Bush told Newsmax TV Friday that he was taking the Republican front-runner head on because "I don't want my party hijacked."

"He's not serious," Bush, who served two terms as Florida's governor, told "Newsmax Now" hosts J.D. Hayworth and John Bachman in an exclusive interview. "I believe in personal responsibility, limited government — individual liberty being the driver for our success of this extraordinary country.

"Donald Trump's views are dramatically different. He voted for [Bill] Clinton. He was a Democrat for more years than being a Republican.

"He gave money to Democratic candidates, starting with Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale and moving his way up to Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton," Bush said. "He has views that are out of the mainstream of our party."

Bush, whose upcoming ad attacks Trump's previous liberal positions, then asked, "Is he a gifted politician?" before answering himself: "Yeah, sure, he's a great entertainer.

"He fills the space for sure, but someone has to confront this because we'll get destroyed in November if he's the nominee."
