Rep. Jack Bergman told Newsmax that lawmakers are demanding more information from the Pentagon on several objects shot down in U.S. airspace over the past week.
Joining "Eric Bolling The Balance" on Tuesday, the Michigan Republican said his colleagues are unsatisfied at the Biden administration's "silence" surrounding the three aerial phenomena, specifically an octagonal object over Lake Huron.
"On Sunday, I heard directly from the Department of Defense giving me notification that an F-16 had just shot the object down. And then after that silence, still silence to this time, we talked today about any follow on," Bergen explained.
"We just had a member briefing for all members of the House within the last couple of hours, and I think the theme was universal across all the members saying, 'Hey, White House, how about giving us some information?'" he added.
The congressman noted that the Defense and Homeland Security Departments "don't have to give us 100% detail" but "tell us you're working [on] it and give us some bigger picture stuff."
Responding to the military reportedly missing its first shot at the octagonal object, Bergman said that, as a former naval aviator, "in the old days, it was normal to miss for weapons, but not on an aimed weapon – a guided weapon – that's unique."
"We need from the White House executive-type, commander-in-chief kind of communication. And we're not getting it," he emphasized.
Bergman also pointed out that the volley of objects entering U.S. airspace recently serves as "a test of our response capabilities," noting that "the real room for improvement is on the administrative side."
