TV360 CEO: Illegal Immigration Is Issue No. 1

By    |   Wednesday, 22 October 2014 06:48 PM

A businessman and filmmaker who says he is in "the exploratory phase" of a presidential run calls illegal immigration the country's most urgent issue.

Dennis Michael Lynch, CEO of TV360, told "MidPoint" host Ed Berliner on Newsmax TV Wednesday that as president his first act would be to instruct everyone working in immigration to "start doing your job," because up until now, "you've been told not to."

Lynch said that securing the border is not enough to stop people from crossing into the U.S. illegally. He said prosecuting businesses that hire illegal immigrants and moving ahead with deportations are also necessary to end a system of incentives that drives illegal immigration.

"The No. 1 issue in this country, whether people want to recognize it or not, is illegal immigration, because it touches everything," said Lynch. "It touches health. It touches education. It touches the workforce. It touches welfare, elections and terror."

Lynch, who has never held public office, said that his lack of a political résumé is not a disqualification.

"What we need is, we need leadership," he said. "We need leadership that not only understands how to look at a problem and solve it right away, but we need somebody like a [Ronald] Reagan who can get out there and get people fired up again.

"Because right now, Americans — the morale is down," he said. "President Obama has done his damage, and it's only going to get worse, especially if he grants an amnesty [to illegal immigrants].

"So that being said, I think I'm overqualified," he said.

Lynch said that his life and work experience are also relevant.

"What makes me qualified is that I'm actually out living life," he said. "I feel the pain of the people who are out there because I live it as well. I've run a business — I run a business today. I've been running business for 25 years. I've employed more than 1,000 people in my day."

Lynch said that as the son of a Vietnam veteran who has battled PTSD and alcoholism, "I understand what veterans are up against.

"I understand this country is treating our veterans and our military in a way that I consider to be appalling," he said.

But Lynch emphasized the immigration issue.

"I don't think there's a man who's spent more time down at the border investigating it and the impact that it has — illegal immigration, that is — on the United States of America," he said.
