Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., says President Donald Trump should be persistent at Thursday’s presidential debate in discussing Hunter Biden allegedly profiting off his father’s position.
''It should be about Joe Biden. It should be about access to the administration, selling access to the administration. It should be about Hunter Biden traveling and utilizing that information,'' Zeldin said Wednesday during an appearance on Newsmax TV’s ''Spicer & Co.''
''Hunter Biden’s own words – he says that he was given these positions because of his last name, because of his father’s position. They’ve confessed to certain elements here of trying to connect the dots. … The president should be persistent on it because Joe Biden’s first and second inclination when it comes up is going to be to change the subject to call it Russia disinformation.''
Trump has made clear he’s coming after Hunter Biden during the debate. His campaign has vowed that there ''will be no escape'' for Biden from questions about his son’s business dealings.
The New York Post last week published emails showing Hunter Biden’s alleged improper dealings in Ukraine.
Fox News on Tuesday said the FBI had determined that the Hunter Biden laptop referenced in the report is not a Russian disinformation effort. Another senior federal law enforcement official told the news outlet the emails are ''authentic.''
