NC Case 'Chilling' Example of Flawed Justice System

The case of two North Carolina brothers set free after more than three decades as a result of DNA evidence pointing to a another inmate in the rape and murder of a nine-year-old girl is a “frightening, chilling example” of how easily innocent people can be executed in the United States, criminal defense lawyer Dan Hochheiser said Friday on Newsmax TV.

Hochheiser was joined by former Federal Prosecutor Bruce Reinhart on “America’s Forum.”

“The authorities held on to a cigarette butt, which had the DNA get-out-of-jail free card on it for 30 years and he was robbed of 30 years of his life because the police got the wrong guy,” Hochheiser said, referencing one of the two men. “It's just a tragedy on all sides.
