Ex-NYPD Detective: Did Spanish Officials Take Terrorism Threat Seriously?

Newsmax TV's "Newsmax Now"

By    |   Thursday, 17 August 2017 07:18 PM EDT

Former New York City Police detective Harry Houck told Newsmax TV Thursday that said the lack of barriers around the Barcelona pedestrian area that was attacked by a terrorist driving a van raised the question of whether officials "weren't taking the threat seriously."

"I'm really surprised that in an area like that they didn't have any kind of temporary barriers to block off from a possible vehicle going through there," Houck told "Newsmax Now" host Bill Tucker. "I was really shocked at that.

"I'm really concerned that may that there's a possibility that they weren't taking the threat seriously."

Houck added that the perpetrators were most likely part of "some kind of a small cell where two police officers were also driven over when they tried to stop the vehicle and help the injured.

"You got to say this is connected.

"I don't believe in coincidences when I was a detective — and I still don't believe in them now."
