David Swerdlick, columnist and contributing editor for African-American news and opinion blog TheRoot.com, has mixed reactions to the grand jury verdict in the Michael Brown shooting.
"I wasn’t there, I don't know what happened. I didn't see and I also believe that once the grand jury has rendered its decision we do have to live with it," Swerdlick said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV.
"That being said, the objection I would have with the process … is that it was almost as if the case was tried in the grand jury rather than the grand jury just deciding on an indictment.
"It was almost like a mini trial in secret with no cross examination … The standard of proof there is probable cause, not reasonable doubt, and so that left a lot of people frustrated. But that is the system and you know, I do believe we have to accept that."
