Author Bostom: Anti-Semitism Surges in Europe

By    |   Tuesday, 10 June 2014 02:42 PM EDT

Anti-Semitic attacks are on the rise throughout Europe and leaders fear more attacks, says Dr. Andrew Bostom, a professor of medicine at Brown University and author of "The Legacy of Jihad.''

"The European Union officials that monitor this are very frightened, very concerned,'' Bostom told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

Story continues below video.

Bostom's warning comes as European authorities probe the fatal shootings of three people — including two Israeli tourists — outside the Brussels Jewish Museum last weekend.

A Frenchman, Mehdi Nemmouche, 29 — arrested in connection with the slayings — recently spent a year in Syria and had become a radicalized Islamist, CNN reports.

"[Authorities] can't imagine how he's just somehow a lone wolf. He had to have some sort of logistical support,'' Bostom said.

He said European leaders "are tying themselves into knots" in attempting to determine whether they should allow extremists who leave their countries to be allowed back in.

"As if that should be a debate. I mean, they should be barred from re-entry, period. I don't even know why this is a discussion once they go over there,'' Bostom said.
