Eric Holder's tenure as U.S. attorney general signaled "the politicization of the Justice Department," says Rep. Blake Farenthold, a Texas Republican.
"The administration has been riddled with scandals that have gone to the Justice Department to die," Farenthold told Joe Concha, guest host of "The Steve Malzberg Show," on

As to who will replace Holder, Farenthold isn't sure.
But, he added, "If somebody truly loves the law and truly loves America, I don't think they're going to get appointed because I don't think the president wants someone [like that]."
Farenthold, a member of the House Oversight Committee House Tea Party Caucus, said Holder transformed the position of attorney general from "the people's lawyer" to "the president's lawyer."
"I can't predict what Barack Obama would do," Farenthold said of choosing a successor.
"I'd be terribly disappointed if he appointed a politician and not a prosecutor or somebody who's dedicated to the law. With the history of this presidency, he could be anybody."
Republicans are pressing for the president not to appoint a replacement during the current session of Congress.
The White House's signaled that it intends to fill the post swiftly following the announcement of Holder's resignation Thursday.
Holder, 63, said he was proud of what the department had accomplished but added that work remained to be done.
He is the fourth-longest serving attorney general in U.S. history.
