Resigning Attorney General Eric Holder will leave a legacy of civil-rights activism — which is not necessarily becoming of the nation's top lawman, says David Harsanyi, a syndicated columnist and senior editor at The Federalist.
"He was an activist. He selectively enforced law, he ignored the laws he didn't like and he enforced laws that weren't his to enforce on immigration and other things," Harsanyi told Joe Concha, guest host of "The Steve Malzberg Show"
on Newsmax TV Thursday.

"Surely he ignored the Defense of Marriage Act, marijuana laws. I actually maybe agree with them in substance, but … his job is to enforce the law that's on the books not to make law himself through fiat."
"He is an activist and that's a problem. Almost every attorney general is to some extent, but we haven't seen anything like this in a while."
Holder, 63, served as the public face of the Obama administration's legal fight against terrorism and pushed to make the criminal justice system more even-handed.
The White House said Thursday that President Barack Obama planned to announce Holder's departure later Thursday. Holder plans to remain at the Justice Department until his successor is in place.
