Drew Ferguson to Newsmax TV: COVID Bill Focuses on Dem Priorities

By    |   Thursday, 04 March 2021 09:57 AM EST

Rep. Drew Ferguson, R-Ga., told Newsmax TV on Thursday that Republicans are “willing to go to the table to work” with Democrats on a coronavirus relief bill, but dismissed the “hyper-partisan bill” that Democrats have proposed.

“We all agreed that we need to continue to focus on getting vaccines not only produced, but getting them out to Americans,” he said on “National Report” Thursday morning.

“The distribution part of this is very, very important,” Ferguson continued. “We need to make sure that Americans are getting back to work safely. Most importantly, we need to recognize that our kids have got to be back in school. That is something that every single American wants, and we are willing … just like we did in the previous packages, to work on targeted relief for American families, American children, and American business.”

He added, “But what's unacceptable is to have a hyper-partisan bill that only spend such a small fraction of this on the actual needs of the American people, and most of it are priorities for Democratic leadership. That’s not right, that’s not fair. We’re willing to go to the table to work for the American people. The Democrats have proven that they're more interested in themselves and not their constituents.”
