Rep. Doug LaMalfa, R-Calif., told Newsmax TV on Tuesday that it’s “heartbreaking” to see Californians forced to close their businesses because of the state’s new COVID-19 restrictions.

LaMalfa told “Newsmax Now” that the restrictions in place in his state are “a prime example of the arrogance of the folks making these decisions here in California,” which he said, “is a very large state, as you know, and it's been broken up into five regions that have no real rhyme or reason.”

He added, “let’s shift back to a county-by-county basis,” because “the mom and pop [shops] on the corner, which I used to think was the cornerstone of what America is, is being devastated by this.”
