Bernie Sanders is campaigning as a "consistent progressive" — and that's what is going to propel him to victory in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, political strategist Dick Morris told
Newsmax TV on Wednesday.
"Sanders will say, 'You don't have to worry about whether I'm going to support the Keystone pipeline or support the Pacific trade agreement tomorrow because I've always opposed them and I'll continue to oppose them,'" Morris, who served in the Bill Clinton White House, told "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth. "In that sense, he might go negative."
Morris is the co-author of The New York Times best-seller,
"Power Grab: Obama's Dangerous Plan for a One-Party Nation."
He told Berliner that Sanders got front-runner Hillary Clinton "on the wrong side" of several issues, including banking regulation, her support for the Iraq War and her endorsement of the no-fly zone over Syria.

"Sanders did a fine job of projecting them and of nailing Hillary to the floor on those issues," Morris said. "Bear in mind that nobody knew Sanders before this debate.
"Now, for the first time, they're seeing him and seeing that he's not some guy out of a nursing home. He's got charisma and even a sense of humor about him.
"That's going to buoy him — and you're going to see that roughly 15-point gap in the national polls that Hillary has closing fairly sharply."
