The media has sought to drive a wedge between President Donald Trump and the White House coronavirus task force and Dr. Deborah Birx is just the latest victim, according to Dr. David Samadi on Newsmax TV.
"I think what is happening here is that as we are getting closer and closer to November, there is going to be more pressure on these doctors, and it's a very difficult situation to be in," Samadi told Monday's "Greg Kelly Reports." "I think it was wrong for Nancy Pelosi to really go after her because she's trying to do the best she can.
"Having said that, I think what she said is probably correct, and some of this virus, it may be spreading to different parts of America, but the way it came out it was not so right, and that's just part of the media training and it's innocent in my opinion."
Dr. Samadi was commenting on Trump's reaction to Birx taking the "bait" from media and House Speaker Pelosi in a "pathetic" attack on the administration's coronavirus response.
"I happen to like her, and I think she's giving good information based on data, but they should just leave her alone," Samadi told host Greg Kelly. "With Nancy going after her and President Trump putting more pressure on her, I don't think it's really going to help the situation more."
Samadi lamented the politics entering medicine and called on Dr. Birx to have "thick skin" amid the attacks as she is working hard during the pandemic as more doctor than a "trained" media person.
"The way CNN was really interviewing her wasn't fair, but they were putting the words in her mouth and I think it's just innocent," he concluded. "She means well, in my opinion."
