President Donald Trump's decision to launch a limited air strike in Syria sends a strong signal to the world that the U.S. is once again a global powerhouse, David Horowitz, author of the New York Times bestseller, "Big Agenda: President Trump's Plan to Save America," tells Newsmax TV.

"I think it sends a strong signal that America is back. America has bite. We had this president for eight years, [Barack] Obama, who has dug a hole so deep it's going to be very difficult to climb out of," Horowitz said Friday to Bill Tucker on "America Talks Live."

"Obama's the one that unleashed ISIS [the Islamic State.] Obama's the one who unleashed [Syria President] Assad. Obama's the one who created the vacuum into which Russia entered.

"The United States used to be the dominant foreign power in that area. Thanks to Obama's treachery, it no longer is. But this says the United States is not going to sit idly by when its interest is threatened."

Syria has condemned the U.S. missile strike while Syrian opposition welcomed the military action against Assad after a chemical attack earlier this week killed over 80.

Horowitz, the editor of FrontPage Magazine and founder of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, isn't as confident about Trump's stance on Israel and the Palestinians.

"The most dangerous thing that Trump is doing, and I'm a big fan of Donald Trump as you know, is giving life to this myth that there can be peace between Israel and Palestinians, who have sworn to destroy both the state of Israel and exterminate Jews," he told Tucker.

That's a Hamas charter. Until the West Bank has … demilitarized there can't be any peace in the Middle East … I think we have a very volatile area there."

Horowitz's book, which has spent seven weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, is published by Humanix.
