Not only does Rep. Darrell Issa detail some of the major government scandals in his new book, he also gives readers "the opportunity to see the path forward," the California Republican told
Newsmax TV on Thursday.
"The hope that would turn into a plan that would turn into repairing our government," Issa told "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth. "Making it transparent, making it work."
Issa's new book is
"Watchdog: The Real Stories Behind the Headlines from the Congressman Who Exposed Washington's Biggest Scandals."
The congressman discusses such scandals as the botched Fast and Furious gun-running scheme that led to Congress finding former Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt in 2012 and the IRS' targeting of conservative and religious nonprofit organizations.
"The fact is that the next president is going to have to audit a government filled with waste and he's going to need Congress to be at his side," Issa told Hayworth. "We need to make sure that those institutions are working.
"The book lays out in amusing detail these failures to show how you can succeed and that you know not everything is a failure.
"Sometimes you get agencies to turn on a dime and stop wasting your money or abusing people," he added. "We need to just make sure that they turn on a dime every time they're wasting money or denying people their rights and privileges."
