John Boehner may be somewhat forgetful when he suggests the Republican Party has been hijacked by President Donald Trump, Corey Lewandowski, who served as the commander in chief's campaign manager, told Newsmax TV on Friday.
"I respect Speaker Boehner, I've known him a long, long time. But Donald Trump was not handed the Republican Party, he fought 16 very qualified individuals to take the Republican Party by storm and now he's the president of the United States," Lewandowski said on Newsmax's "America Talks Live."

On Thursday, Boehner said at the Mackinac Policy Conference in Michigan: "There is no Republican Party. There's a Trump party. The Republican Party is kinda taking a nap somewhere."
But Lewandowski – author of the upcoming book "Trump's Enemies: How the Deep State Is Undermining President Trump," written with David Bossie and to be published by Center Street in September – strongly disagreed.
He told Newsmax hosts Miranda Khan, John Cardillo and Clarence McKee:
"My concern with what John is saying is I am certain John is not opposed to the work that this president has done on the behalf of conservative values – including [appointing] circuit court judges, including [nominating] Neil Gorsuch [for U.S. Supreme Court], including cutting taxes.
"That is the mantra of the Republican Party, maybe John has forgotten that a little bit … The American People are with this president because he's done exactly what he's said he was going to do."
