Howie Carr: Michelle, Hillary Stump Speeches Won't Help Coakley

By    |   Monday, 06 October 2014 11:48 AM EDT

Having Michelle Obama on the campaign trail for Massachusetts’ Democratic gubernatorial candidate Martha Coakley likely won’t do much to boost Coakley’s chances, Boston Herald columnist Howie Carr said Monday on Newsmax TV's “America’s Forum.”

“(Michelle Obama) came into Boston and the only thing that she could brag about was the state of the economy and that even left Democrats scratching their heads,” Carr said.

“She can't brag about the fact that all these millions of people are going to lose their healthcare at the end of the year because of Obamacare or they're going to legalize millions of illegal aliens, so she talks about the economy but I mean, I watch "Meet the Press" yesterday and not even Andrea Mitchell believes the economy is doing well. When you've lost Andrea Mitchell, you've lost the whole country.”

Carr discussed the race and whether having Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail will be of any benefit.
