CNN issued an apology after erroneously running a photograph of Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday over a graphic reading, "Reports: 'Jihadi John' Identified."
"Due to a failure of a video server during today’s breaking news broadcast, a photo of Vladimir Putin, prepared for our next report, was accidentally shown," a spokesman for CNN spokesman said to Russia's TASS news agency. "We apologize for that mistake."
Jihadi John was actually
identified as Mohammed Emwazi, a Kuwait-born east Londoner who dropped out of college to join Islamic terrorists in 2009 and currently is with the Islamic State group.
He is reported to be the British-accented man with his head covered who is seen in several beheading videos of American and British citizens.
