President Donald Trump made some verbal "gaffes" during his press appearance with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, but the Iran deal was a much bugger sin for America, retired CIA station chief Scott Uehlinger told Newsmax TV.
Uehlinger was on "Newsmax Now" and addressed the Helsinki summit between Trump and Putin, during which Trump praised Putin and did not stand up to him — at least during the press conference — regarding the claims Russia interfered with the 2016 U.S. election.
"I was far more outraged by $150 billion on a pallet being turned over to Iran to effect more terrorist attacks," Uehlinger said. "I think that's a far more darker day for U.S. diplomacy than this, some gaffes by the president this evening. So, a little perspective is in order.
"But this selective outrage, there have been far worse things done by other individuals than this relatively minor incident."

Uehlinger then argued U.S. policy toward Russia is better now than what it was during the eight years under former President Barack Obama.
"We also have to remember that, despite what was said, we still have a much stronger policy directed against Russia in terms of sanctions, in terms of weapons support in the Ukraine, and elsewhere, than anything in the past eight years of the Obama administration," he said.
