President Donald Trump will be acquitted of wrongdoing when the Senate concludes its impeachment trial, and it is "pretty clear" he will be re-elected, Newsmax Media CEO Christopher Ruddy said Thursday on Newsmax TV.
"The Democrats have a long game here," Ruddy told "The Chris Salcedo Show." "Somebody was telling me today in Washington, [the Democrats] don't really want witnesses. They want to go around telling people the president, and the Senate and Republicans denied them witnesses."
Democrats are using the impeachment, he added, as a "political football because they don't have anything else to throw, a hail Mary pass to defeat Donald Trump."
Meanwhile, Ruddy said, if anyone had asked him three days ago, he would have thought the Senate would agree to call witnesses after the bombshell reports involving John Bolton's allegations.
Ruddy noted the Senate has treated the impeachment process fairly, by allowing both sides to present their cases, which is "totally different than the way the House rammed this through. It was like a Stalinist show trial."
As a result, Trump's job ratings have been rapidly improving, so he is hitting an "all-time record approval," Ruddy said.
However, Ruddy said he does not believe a few witnesses would hurt Trump's case, because most of the information is already known.
