"It makes me very concerned because our American people aren't hearing the truth," Candy Carson, who has been married to the retired pediatric neurosurgeon since 1975, told "The Steve Malzberg Show" in an interview.
Carson is the author of the new book,
"A Doctor in the House: My Life with Ben Carson." She and her husband have written four books together, including last year's bestseller,
"A More Perfect Union: What We the People Can Do to Reclaim Our Constitutional Liberties."
"The media is the one business, the one and only business that's protected by our Constitution because they're supposed to keep everybody honest," she said. "They're supposed to help everybody to understand the news as it happens — and that's not happening.
"Since they're unethical, or many of them are, I feel it's my duty to go and tell people what's going on."
That's why Carson wrote the book about her husband.
"The book was written to give people a more in-depth perspective not only of who he is, but what our life has been like up to this point," she said.
She told Malzberg that "yes, definitely" faith was crucial to the Carson's marriage — in "every way possible."
