President Donald Trump nominated Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court in part because he is convinced Kavanaugh will get confirmed, Bill O'Reilly told Newsmax TV.
During an appearance on "The Wayne Allyn Root Show," O'Reilly was asked why Trump would choose someone who is perceived to be part of the establishment. Kavanaugh was nominated for the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals by former President George W. Bush.
"Trump made the calculation that Kavanaugh will win confirmation. And he will," O'Reilly said. "He'll get all Republicans, and he'll pick off four or five Democrats. You wait and see. That's why he did it."

Trump announced Monday night Kavanaugh is his choice to succeed Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy, who will retire at the end of July.
O'Reilly said Kavanaugh is a solid choice for the nation's highest court who has worked his way up the ladder rung by rung.
"Kavanaugh is basically your standard issue Republican jurist," O'Reilly said. "Ivy League schools, clerked for Justice Kennedy, worked for Ken Starr in the impeachment process of Bill Clinton, and just stair-stepped his way to a federal judgeship in D.C., and now has been nominated for the Supreme Court.
"Rulings are thoughtful. He's not a bomb thrower. He's not a disassembler, despite what the left would have you believe. . . . He's a strict constitutionalist, which means that he reads what the Founding Fathers put on the page, and then he applies it to whatever cases come before his court – which is I think what every American should want because, as you know, the Supreme Court does not make law. Congress does that."
