Between June 14, 1962, and January 4, 1964, 13 women were victims of what was thought to be a serial killer in Boston, Massachusetts. All of the victims were brutally murdered in their own apartments leaving the entire city frozen with fear. As well, police found that most of the 13 had been sexually assaulted and strangled with articles of clothing. The most elderly of the victims died of a heart attack.

This probing, two-hour special propels viewers back to a time when no woman in Boston felt safe and everybody kept their doors bolted around the clock. The city finally breathed a collective sigh of relief when, in a recorded confession, a disturbed Army veteran and former delivery boy named Albert DeSalvo admitted to the savage killing spree and became the first known serial killer in America ever put behind bars.

The explosive case was the subject of books, TV shows, and even a Hollywood movie starring heartthrob Tony Curtis as DeSalvo.

But decades later, compelling DNA analysis revealed that DeSalvo may not in fact have committed the crimes. Through compelling interviews, recreations, and archival footage, including excerpts of DeSalvo’s actual confession, you’ll learn the shocking truth behind the heinous murder spree.

“Confessions of the Boston Stranger,” contains graphic content which may be disturbing to some viewers. The program is suggested for mature audiences and viewer discretion is advised.
