The Iran nuclear deal poses a threat to the world and the United States should withdraw from it and come up with something else, former NYPD commissioner Bernie Kerik told Newsmax TV.

During an appearance on "Newsmax Now," Kerik was asked about the 2015 agreement that was designed to prevent Iran from creating a nuclear weapon.

"I don't see [the U.S.] staying in the deal," Kerik said. "I think it's dangerous."

President Donald Trump will announce Tuesday whether or not he intends to withdraw the U.S. from the agreement. He has expressed skepticism about the deal since he campaigned for president.

"The nuclear issue is the biggest issue we have here," Kerik said. "And for those countries in the region, whether it's Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, every one of those state leaders are scared to death that Iran gets a nuclear weapon capability."

Iran "could be ready to go in seven years. Or this thing could end in seven years and they can go about their business. The president has to do something, and he's gotta do it now."
